Grateful for You

In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist urges us to “Prepare the way of the Lord.” This is what Advent is all about, for we are called to help prepare the way of the Lord by making the real meaning of Christmas come alive in our own hearts.

As we await the joyous celebrations of Christmas with the gratitude of Thanksgiving behind us, obstacles still exist for many of our neighbors. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we assisted a family who were down to their last hours of propane to heat their home and operate their stove. The following day, Thanksgiving eve late in the afternoon, a neighbor was out of oil and their home had become cold already. We were able to get them an oil delivery that afternoon. With Carol’s help in the rectory, we were able to assist helping the last few families receive the Thanksgiving baskets that Parish Outreach had worked so hard to prepare for them. Thanksgiving morning we had the joy of bringing freshly prepared Thanksgiving dinners to a young homeless couple and to a local men’s shelter. The greatest gift we offer on behalf of all our parishioners and supporters is the LOVE in YOUR and OUR HEARTS. So from their hearts and our Vincentian hearts, thank you for making all these small miracles possible!!
